The Book Of Drexciya - Vol. 1
08 (BOOKOFDREXCIYA1)
The story of Drexciya has always been inextricably linked to dense, vivid worldbuilding. Now, with Abdul Qadim Haqq’s The Book Of Drexciya Vol. 1, the seminal Detroit group’s Afrofuturist mythology is brought to life in a stunning graphic novel. The tale is told here of the first Drexciyan who, born underwater to a mother thrown from a slave ship, rises to become the first king of this subaquatic empire. Haqq, who has done more than perhaps any other in creating the visual aesthetic of Detroit dance music, is the perfect artist to tackle this tale, and further writing comes from Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell).
Full support of Gerald Donald and Helen Stinson (Mother of James Stinson) was given to this project.
